Volunteer

Before reading through this list of job descriptions let's discuss the human aspect of filling a volunteer role. There is a learning curve, albeit an exciting one for most of us. The only pressure around performance will be that which you exert on yourself. There is a patient supportive team available for assistance in whatever way it is needed. If one team member is unable to address a situation, a team member who can will be sought.

For the most part, (within the confines of being human and fallible) we work without attaching ourselves to outcome. If a volunteer discovers themselves unable to meet a commitment it is as simple as saying such. We are organizing ourselves around the principle of oneness...what works best for you is what will be best for the good of the whole.

We would also like to mention that the descriptions below are guidelines, each person who currently holds a stewardship role with HT Canada brings to their role their own special skills, passions, and personality.  If you are considering stepping up to be the change you wish to see by volunteering for a stewardship role with HT Canada, we invite you to share with us your own vision for the role you see yourself in.

A list of current coordinators and open positions can be found HERE.

Their responsibilities are much like those of the Country Coordinator, but fulfilled on a Regional level, facilitating communication amongst the Provincial Coordinators and serving as a liaison between the Canadian Coordination Team and the Provincial Coordinators.

Provincial Coordinator - Regional Team

Provincial Coordinators serve one of the most important roles in Humanity's Team. They are the ones who are in closest communication with the Teammates. Provincial Coordinators serve as a liaison between the Regional Coordinator and local community leaders such as Group Facilitators. Provincial Coordinators participate in conference calls once a week, on average, with the Regional Coordinator. They may assist with planning and coordinating events, workshops and retreats in their home Province/Region in addition to participating in HT Leadership Conferences with the rest of the Canadian Team once a year. Provincial Coordinators have extremely diverse responsibilities. At times, they are performing tasks normally associated with every other position on the Canadian Coordination Team, but doing so on the local level. This is a fluid role, involving between 10 and 15 hours a week, depending on what activities they are currently involved with. IT/Web Coordinator - Crossover Canadian Coordination Team & Regional/Functional Teams

The IT/Web Coordinator is essential to the communicative abilities of Humanity's Team Canada.  This individual will be part of ensuring a smooth flow of communication between the Humanity's Team Canada Coordinators (Core Team) and teammates.

Duties include:

  • Maintaining, upgrading, and adding content to the www.humanitysteamcanada.com website
  • Maintaining and upgrading of the Humanity's Team Canada mailing list software
  • Email address setup and support for Core Team members
  • General technical support for Core Team members
  • Advising the Core Team on Web and technical matters

A wide range of IT/Web skills are sought. Any or all of the following are useful: HTML, PHP, MySQL, and familiarity with using a Content Management System (CMS). On a less technical note, the ability to translate English web content into French web content would be a definite asset.  Self-taught is just as valuable as formal training for these positions. We recognize that skill is more important than a certificate.

Special Projects Coordinator - Canadian Coordination Team

The Special Projects Coordinator works closely with the Country Coordinator and the rest of the Canadian Coordination Team. This role requires someone with a very diverse background ranging from the ability to effectively complete tasks in a timely manner, to the ability to organize and oversee a small team of people who are offering their skills to HT. A Special Projects Coordinator needs to be exceptionally organized and have strong computer and web-based skills. No actual programming languages are required, but proficiency with most Windows-based document programs is a must, along with a working knowledge of "point and click" web useage. Strong research skills are a plus. The ideal candidate can devote approximately 10 hours per week to their duties.

Youth Coordinator - Crossover Canadian Coordination Team & Education & Inner Work Functional Team

The Youth Coordinator is a relatively new function on the Canadian Coordination Team. We recognize the wisdom that our young teammates are able to offer to the rest of the world and wish to create a safe place for them to share, grow, and learn. The Youth Coordinator will work closely with the Core Team in the creation of programs and events geared towards youth in today's world.

The intention of the HT Youth Facebook page is to build a community for youth under the banner of Oneness. To have a place to come together, to learn and discuss with there peers, what Oneness looks like and means to them as youth. A community where they can discuss ways they themselves can take an active role in there world, and to have there voice heard.

The Youth coordinator along with other team mates will monitor the Facebook page and help facilitate and perhaps add some ideas and direction when needed. It is believed if given a forum and a chance to be heard our youth can and will offer some valuable insights into humanity from there perspective.

Youth spend there lives for the most part being told what and how to think, what to do and how to do it and who they should be. It is the intention to make this a place where that does not happen. Instead where they are asked the questions: What do YOU think? How do YOU feel?  What do YOU want to do about it? and most importantly WHO DO YOU WANT TO BE? By doing this we honour there voice.

Translation Coordinator and Team - Crossover Canadian Coordination Team & Functional Teams

The Translation Team Coordinator touches base with the Coordination Team and Functional Teams and ensures with the support of the Translation Team that all communications to our Canadian Teammates are offered in both English and French.  These communications include but are not limited to, our French and English websites, our newsletters, and special communications.
